David Rice

Artistic Director

David is thrilled to be part of the 3-time TBA award-winning Left Coast Theatre Co. Theater has been a part of David’s life as long as he can remember. His father was a Broadway musical fan, so he grew up listening to the Original Broadway Cast albums of Sound of Music, South Pacific, Carousel and My Fair Lady to name a few. After a brief stint as an actor/singer/dancer in NYC, David branched out and directed productions of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (with LCTC’s own Chris Maltby), The Miracle Worker and starred in productions of Me and My Girl, Brigadoon and Pippin. After he stumbled upon an office position in a Broadway producer’s office he found his calling. Eventually promoted to Production Company Manager, he oversaw the Broadway and National Tour productions of Grease with Rosie O’Donnell, Megan Mulally, Sheena Easton, Joe Piscopo and a young chorus girl named Sutton Foster (You may have heard of her.), Hal Prince’s Show Boat, The Full Monty and Ragtime. After retiring to San Francisco he became the Chief Concierge at the Clift Hotel, where he stayed for 12 years. Now he works as a Learning and Development Specialist for Zynga.
