We’re looking for several good people who love theater and want to dedicate some of their time to ensure that LCTC can continue producing better and better shows. There’s a lot to do and we’re always looking to grow our team to help make great theatre.

Things move fast in the theater, and in a week or a month, you may be the exact person we’re looking for with a position that makes your heart sing like a standing ovation on opening night. From technical director to volunteering for a single performance, we’re always looking for people who want to get involved.

Treasurer
Oversees the general financial management of the organization.
  • Works with the Executive Director and the Artistic Director to create company and production budgets.
  • Works with Executive Director to ensure the company stays within that budget.
  • Manages all financial accounts, including bank accounts and payment platforms.
  • Provides updates to the Executive Director and Artistic Director as to where the company stands financially.
  • Participates in all fundraising events and tracks progress.
  • Works with Board to develop and implement long and short-term strategies for the company's financial development and fundraising.
  • Responsible for all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions in organization alongside the Executive Director.
  • Ensures that all paperwork related to finances is completed in a timely manner
  • Files form 990 at the end of the calendar year.
  • Duties also include: check signing, expense reimbursement, credit card usage, and tracking petty cash.
Requirements: 
  • Must have basic Quickbooks Online knowledge.
  • Bonus: experience working with nonprofit theater or live performance organizations.

Marketing Manager
Manages the marketing strategies and communication of the organization with the goal of expanding audience reach and artistic collaboration.
  • Works with the Executive Director and the Artistic Director to clearly define target audience, coming up with clear, defined goals and strategy to increase audience attendance.
  • Works with Graphic Designer and Artistic Director on the design of each show poster and postcard.
  • Orders posters, postcards, and programs for each show from printers.
  • Works with Executive Director to create marketing and branding merchandise.
  • Works with Executive Director to create fundraising and show marketing campaigns.
  • Works with Stage Manager on production photos for social media postings, and ensures Executive Director and Artistic Director have photos for press releases, website, and emails blasts.
  • Creates promo videos for shows when applicable, and create social media postings.
  • Manages promotional sales for shows.
  • Works with the Artistic Director to obtain information from artists, including anything that will be used in any marketing material, programs, etc. (e.g. Show descriptions, bios, and headshots).
Requirements:
  • Must have genuine interest or knowledge of the Bay Area theater community and the LGBTQ+ community.

Stage Manager
Oversees the operational elements of rehearsals, tech week, and performances. Oversees operations of stage and backstage crews, as well as coordinates activities to load the production into the theater at the beginning of tech week and to load out at the end of the production run. These duties include:

General:
  • Acts as mentor to the Assistant Stage Manager
Prior to Tech Week:
  • Attends at least one rehearsal for each play in the anthology prior to tech week.
  • Creates rehearsal reports for the rehearsals attended that included all production staff.
  • Attends all production meetings with directors, production staff, and producers.
  • Ensures all tech need from directors are communicated to designers and Managing Producer.
  • Schedules and facilitates regular production meetings and paper tech.
  • Works with Managing Producer and other Producers to acquire rehearsal props and set pieces as needed.
  • Works with Managing Producer and designers to ensure all technical elements are ready for load-in.
  • Works with Managing Producer to schedule and facilitate load-in.
  • Coordinates the work of the stage crew.
During Technical Rehearsals/Show Run:
  • Prompts actors on their lines, entrances, and exits.
  • Spikes set pieces onstage.
  • Organizes and facilitates all scene changes.
  • Communicates to actors and crew their individual duties during scene changes.
  • Creates and maintains a running list of scene changes and the responsibilities of those involved; to be posted backstage.
  • Runs the light and sound cues for the performances OR remains backstage to facilitate scene and costume changes (to be decided with the ASM).
  • Oversees every performance of the production, including ensuring actors maintain correct blocking and lines.
  • Creates performance reports for each performance that include notes about the show and sends them to all production staff.
  • Coordinates the opening of the theater each night with the House Manager.
  • Ensures that all sets and props are set before house opens.
  • Ensures all set pieces and props are properly stored away each night.
  • Works with House Manager to ensure dressing room and house are cleaned each night.
  • Ensures the space is properly secured each night (e.g., all lights turned off, all appropriate doors locked).
At Close of Show:
  • Works with Managing Producer to facilitate load out.
  • Ensures that all actors’ personal items are returned to them and that all company items are stored properly.
  • Oversees load out, making certain that all of LCTC’s property, as well as properties loaned to LCTC for the production are removed and that nothing belonging to the theater is removed.
  • Participates in a post-mortem of the production with LCTC management.
A volunteer expense stipend of $480 is available.

Assistant Stage Manager
  • Acts as a second-in-command to the Stage Manager.
  • Facilitates communication between the Stage Manager and the actors.
  • Ensures the safety of all members of the production.
  • Attends all production meetings with directors, production staff, and producers.
  • Supports Stage Manager in administrative tasks during the rehearsal and production periods.
  • Aids the Stage Manager with opening the space during Tech and performances, presetting all sets and props, cleaning up and closing the space after each performance, and other duties assigned for each show.
  • Assists actors during scene changes if backstage (to be determined with the Stage Manager).
  • Operates the light & sound board during performances (to be determined with the Stage Manager).
A volunteer expense stipend of $240 is available.

Directors
Works with actors, designers to create a performance that maintains the Artistic Directors’ vision of the production.
  • Interprets the script and works with actors and designers to create a performance that is in conjunction with the overall feeling of the production and stays within the budget and resources allocated to the production.
  • Casts the script in cooperation with Artistic Director and Managing Producer.
  • Communicates with actors and Stage Manager to develop a rehearsal schedule for each piece.
  • Guides/blocks actors’ movements in their work during rehearsals and ensures pacing of play is in conjunction with the overall feeling of the production, as established by the Artistic Director.
  • Collaborates with designers on all technical elements of the script. Communicates all technical needs (lights, sound cues) to the Technical Director, Production Manager, Stage Manager and Designers.
A volunteer expense stipend of $240 is available.

Lighting Designer
Creates a lighting design that will enhance the mood and feeling of the production in accordance with the vision of the director(s) and Artistic Director.
  • Meets with the Artistic Director, show director(s) and other designers to discuss the director(s)’s vision of the script.
  • Works with the other designers to ensure the creation of a unified look and feel for the production.
  • Attends all production meetings with directors, production staff, and producers.
  • Attends Paper Tech, as well as any rehearsals necessary to see the blocking and layout of the set.
  • Works with the Managing Producer to ensure all necessary work is done on time and on budget.
  • Works with Managing Producer and Stage Manager to ensure that all instruments are efficiently brought to the theater for load in and that all instruments are set up correctly during Tech Week.
  • Creates a lighting plot for the production to which the rest of the Production Team may have access.
  • Creates a cue sheet for the Stage Manager and/or Asst. Stage Manager during Tech Week.
  • Works with Stage Manager and/or Asst. Stage Manager to ensure they are familiar with the look and timing of all light cues.

Scenic Designer
Obtains and/or designs set pieces and props for anthology production in accordance with the vision of the director(s), Artistic Director, and needs of the scripts.
  • Works with the director(s), Artistic Director, and other designers to develop set and props ideas from the scripts.
  • Attends all production meetings with directors, production staff and producers.
  • Acquires and/or designs set and prop pieces for anthology production. This includes shopping for pieces as well as taking stock of what the Producers already have in storage.
  • Attends any rehearsals necessary to see specific needs for set and props pieces. Works with Stage Manager to acquire any rehearsal props needed.
  • Works with the Producers to ensure all necessary work is done on time and on budget.
  • Possesses the skills necessary to fulfill the needs of the directors and scripts with a small budget.
  • Works with Producers and Stage Manager to ensure that all set and props pieces are efficiently brought to the theater for load in
  • Attends all tech rehearsals prior to opening to lend assistance and offer support as issues or concerns arise regarding prop and/or set pieces.
  • Works with Producers in collecting all the pieces at load out / close of show.
A volunteer expense stipend of $420 is available.

Costume Designer
Obtains and/or designs costumes for anthology production in accordance with the vision of the director(s), Artistic Director, and needs of the scripts.
  • Meets with the director(s) and other designers to discuss the director’s vision of the script.
  • Works with the other designers to ensure the creation of a unified look and feel for the production.
  • Attends Paper Tech as well as any rehearsals necessary to see specific costuming needs.
  • Works with the Managing Producer and directors to ensure that all necessary work is done on time and on budget.
  • Works with Managing Producer, director(s), and Stage Manager to ensure that all costume pieces are efficiently brought to the theater for load in.
  • Works with Stage Manager and director(s) to coordinate pulling pieces from actors’ personal wardrobes when necessary/appropriate.
  • Creates a costume plot for each actor/character so that each actor knows what they are wearing for each scene/piece.
  • At load out, ensure all actors’ personal items are returned to them and that all company items are stored properly.
A volunteer expense stipend of $420 is available.

Sound Designer
Creates a sound design that will enhance the mood and feeling of the production in accordance with the vision of the director(s) and Artistic Director.
  • Meets with the director(s) and other designers to discuss the director(s)’ vision of the script.
  • Works with the other designers to ensure the creation of a unified look and feel for the production.
  • Attends Paper Tech as well as any rehearsals necessary to get a feel for the timing and requirements for all sound cues.
  • Works with the Managing Producer to ensure that all necessary work is done on time and on budget.
  • Creates a cue sheet for the Stage Manager and/or Asst. Stage Manager during or before Tech Week.
  • Works with Stage Manager and/or Asst. Stage Manager to ensure they are familiar with the levels and timing of all sound cues.
A volunteer expense stipend of $420 is available.
