Our Marvelous Friends,

It's a new year and Left Coast is so excited to announce its 2024 Season! We already know that 2024 is going to be a doozy, so we at Left Coast are more determined than ever to bring you original queer theatre! Now more than ever we want to tell you funny, tragic, heart-felt, campy stories about LGBTQIA+ folk and how indomitable we are!

We also are thrilled to announce that we met our 2023 End of Year Fundraising Goal! Thank you so much to everyone who donated. Every single one of you reading this email, no matter how it is that you support us (donating, buying tickets, telling friends about us, etc.), your support means everything to us. And we mean that literally because we could not do this without all of you. So take a look at what we have in store for you this year and start putting some dates in your calendars!

And if you ever want to get more involved, be sure to update your settings so that you hear about projects that might interest you. Want to audition for us? Hear about signups for our writer's workshop before anyone else? Want to help us work box office? You can update your info HERE to hear about all those opportunities!

Now that that's all out of the way, here's our 2024 season!!

"Closets Are For Clothes"
A Staged Reading

We're back at Strut for our usual staged reading shenanigans. After needing to postpone this anthology last year, we're excited to finally share these stories with you. Be they literal or metaphorical, many queer folk have had to navigate a closet or two. But we love when people live their lives open and proud! Closets aren't for lives; they're for clothes (and maybe the occasional skeleton).

Writer's Workshop
with Kristy Lin Billuni
Professional writing coach and produced playwright Kristy Lin Billuni is back to lead this year's writing workshop. Participants can work on any script, but it is timed perfectly to the submission window for our next submission window for "The Future is Queer." More on that below!

"Hear Our Voices: Stories of Underrepresented Queer Identities"
A Fully Produced Anthology

Our first main production of the year is an anthology that amplifies voices within the queer community that might not always be heard: trans folk, BIPOC people, ace folk, and more! This fully produced anthology, performing at The Phoenix, shares six stories from underrepresented identities.

August

"The Future is Queer"
A Staged Reading

We may not know what the future holds, but we know for sure that the future is queer. This anthology of short pieces will explore what the future looks like for queer folk. Things aren't great right now, but maybe a queer utopia is just a few years away.

November/December

"Found Family"
A Fully Produced Anthology

Just in time for the holidays, we bring you an anthology about the people we choose to call our family. After an amazing reading at Strut, we will be producing this collection of stories that will give you that cozy holiday feeling while still being super duper queer.

We're so excited about what we have in store for you this year! Stay tuned for more details about our next reading, "Closets Are For Clothes."

If you're as excited as we are about these shows, we always appreciate you expressing that excitement in the form of a donation. Your support helps us bring these stories to life and keep queer theatre alive in the Bay Area.
