Covid-19 Impacts LCTC

To Our Community

This has been a difficult year. As with all theater and live performance industries, Left Coast Theatre Co. has been readjusting and paying attention to every new detail and development over the last months. Unfortunately, but not unsurprisingly, this has caused us to postpone our entire 2020 season to 2021, with the flexibility to adjust as necessary. As disappointing as this is, we are preparing an exciting new season for you when we can all be together again. We hope to come back from this pause with even better stories and groundbreaking work for you, our supporters and family, to enjoy.

While the theater industry has been put on hold for the foreseeable future, and the world turned its attention to the essential Black Lives Matter movement, LCTC has been motivated to take this time to reimagine many aspects of the organization. We know in our hearts that we have always been supportive of QT-BIPOC artists, but recognize that support might have not been enough. We are committed to educating ourselves, and extending our outreach in the theater, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC communities, so that the stories we perform accurately reflect the community we desire to represent. With this on our minds and in our hearts, we extend our most profound of THANK YOUS to the creators of the BIPOC EQUITY ACTION PLAN.

We have analyzed this incredible document, and have created our own action plan directly from it in order to create and be the change we also desire to see in our small industry. We know these changes will not happen overnight, nor should they, as we want to make deliberate decisions to better ourselves and not hasty ones.

This scrappy little company cannot wait to share the theater with you all once again. In the meantime, please stay safe, stay healthy, and guuuurl wear a damn mask!

With love,
The LCTC Crew
