Left Coast Theatre Company is thrilled to announce auditions for its next full production.

"The Future is Queer." This is an anthology of seven short plays that explore what the future might look like for LGBTQ+ folk.

Dates:

Audition Window: 4/7 to 4/27/25
Callbacks: Sun 5/4, 12pm-4pm (in-person)
First Read: Tues 5/27, 6:30-8:30pm (in-person)
Rehearsals: Early June - Late July (more below)
Tech: Sun, 7/20, 1-5:30pm; Tues, 7/22 - Thurs, 7/24 6-11pm
Performances: Fri, 7/25; Sat, 7/26; Fri, 8/1; Sat, 8/2; Thurs, 8/7; Fri, 8/8; Sat, 8/9
All performances are at 7:30pm at The Phoenix Theatre (414 Mason St, SF)

Auditions:

We will be accepting virtual auditions of filmed 1-2 minute monologues. Please fill out the form linked below and submit your video monologue, as well as your headshot and resume.

Callbacks:

Callbacks will be in-person on Sun, May 4, from 12 to 4pm. Callbacks will consist of reading sides. Actors may not be called for the whole callback window. If you have any conflicts on 5/4, please note that in the audition form.

Rehearsals:

Actors can expect to be called for around 5 rehearsals per piece, in addition to tech week. Rehearsal schedules will be finalized by directors once their pieces are cast based on actors' availability. Some rehearsals will be virtual.

COVID Guidelines:

Left Coast requires all cast and crew to show proof of vaccination.

Stipend:

There will be an expense stipend of $300

Casting:

We are casting for the following roles. To better respect the time and efforts of our actors, Left Coast does its best to double cast actors. Actors will be offered at least two roles whenever possible. If you would only like to be considered for one role, please note that on the audition form.

Ana - Non-Binary, any race, late-20's - Political organizer

Alex - Non-Binary (AFAB), any race, any age - Playwright in crisis
Jamie - Woman, any race, any age - Alex's girlfriend, the rational one

A - Any gender, any race, 40s-60s - Tipsy and sarcastic
B - Any gender, any race, 40s-60s - Heavily inebriated and deep in their emotions

Jeff - Man, any race, any age - A scientist
Zack - Man, any race, 20s-30s - Handsome
Voice/Waitress/Boss - Woman, any race, any age

Android - Genderless, any race, any age - Methodical and ever-so-slightly insecure
Eighty-Seven - Trans Man, any race, 20s-30s - Closeted and looking to prove a point
Ninety-Nine - Trans Woman, any race, 40s-60s - Stubborn and with a broken heart

Jason - Man, any race, 60s-80s - Cynical and quick-witted
David - Man, any race, 60s-80s: Optimistic and sentimental
